A Visit to West Virginia
We spent Saturday and Sunday (5/26-27) in West Virginia with some of Britt's family. We saw his maternal grandmother. She talked about how she always keeps the candy jar full, as people remember that special candy she always has. She also spoke of how sad it is now that the basement is never full of grandkids. She was so sweet. She wanted to hold Micah, but since she is only 80 pounds and Micah is over 30, we had to convince her that it wasn't such a great idea. What a blessing to share a good day with her.
We also visited with his paternal Uncle Harold (who is 91) and cousin Jeff. He told stories of his younger years, including trials of the Depression and tales of his father, mother and step-mother, Britt's paternal grandmother. His memory and health are amazing for a man his age. Only his hearing is failing a bit.We stayed with his maternal Aunt Pat and Uncle John, very gracious hosts, and saw Uncle Tom, too, but forgot to take pictures. We've really got to remember to document these things!
